An Integrative Approach

I am an adoptee-focused, attachment, trauma-focused, and couples, marriage, and relationship(s) therapist using an integrative approach drawing from several systemic modalities. My work centers on multiculturalism, inclusivity, and advocacy with an expanded understanding of the mental health outcomes that oppressive systems have on people, especially marginalized ones. The modalities at the core of my work include Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) for young adoptees/fosterees, Narrative Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing, and others.
The Process of Therapy
Through your therapeutic journey there can be a host of benefits ranging from being seen, heard, and valued, to a sense of clarity, to greater attunement to self, to a connected understanding of self-love/worth, to deep appreciation for the many parts/identities one may hold, and to an improved sense of purpose.
The benefits are the reason most engage with therapy; however, before realizing the benefits, some do experience feelings of going backwards or negative feelings and responses to what is happening in therapy; this is a completely natural response and process in therapy; it often is a good indicator that therapy is working. I encourage you to lean in during these times as it frequently yields the breakthroughs, and ultimately, the benefits people seek in therapy.
In the long term, a wellness plan can help you avoid a crisis by utilizing therapy sessions to express your thoughts and feelings in a safe welcoming environment. I consider it a deep honor to sit with fellow adoptees and those who are wanting to improve the quality of their relationship(s). Start your growth journey with me by getting in touch below.
If you live outside Washington State, I offer identity and relationship coaching nationwide and worldwide, providing supportive, growth-focused services that do not require therapy licensure in your state.
